Getting Started and Know Your Toolbar

Hello, Hello, Hello! This will be my first post on this blog and by far my longest. This post will be all about getting started on Club Penguin (www.clubpenguin.com)! Ok, so when you enter the club penguin website, click play now. This will take you to a screen that will say Create a Penguin or Login. If you don’t have a penguin, click Create a Penguin. Another page will come up with a smiling penguin and text boxes. First enter your penguin’s name. Make sure it is at least 4-12 characters long and that you like it because you can’t change your penguin’s name. My example penguin’s name is SchoolGurl21. Next choose a color. The colors are: aqua, dark blue, light green, light pink, yellow, purple, green, orange, black, light blue, lime green, brown, hot pink, and red. You can choose any color because in the game you can buy all the colors instead of just being the same one forever. Now you can create a password. Don’t tell anybody your password, and make sure it is easy for you to remember. Now enter yours, or your parent’s, email address. Finally check “I agree to the TERMS OF USE and PRIVACY POLICY” box. Then check the email you sent it to and fill out the forms to start playing.

Now that you are on Club Penguin, let’s talk about your toolbar. Your toolbar is the blue bar at the bottom of your page. The first thing on your toolbar (starting from the left across) is the “default” speech bubble. Click it and there will but a bunch of “default” sentences and phrases for you to say. Next is the Winky Face (or the emoticon box) if you click that there is a bunch of emoticons you can use to express what you are feeling or thinking. You can also do this on your keyboard by pressing “E” then a number or letter. Like “E” then “P” is a puffle emoticon so have fun with that. Then there is the Actions button. Using this you can sit, dance, or wave. You can also do these on the keyboard. Press “W” to wave, “D” to dance, and point your arrow somewhere then press “S” to sit. Next on the toolbar is a snowball. Press the snowball then move your target somewhere and click again. On your keyboard press “T” then use your target and click. No we are in the middle and there is a big text box. If you don’t have open chat you cannot use this. Hit the speech bubble in it or press enter on your keyboard to type your own personal message. If you type something inappropriate or something that Club Penguin won’t let you say, you can get banned for a day or it won’t show up on other player’s screens’. Next to the chat bar you will find a badge. The badge will look different if you are a member or non-member. Click that to customize your penguin with clothes, hats, scarves, face items, backgrounds and pins. Remember not all of these are open to non-members. Now you will see a smiley face button. These are your buddies! To get buddies click there penguin and click the little smiley face “send friend request”. You can also ignore penguins that are mean to you by doing the same thing but by pressing the little skull. After this button you will see a house button, this button will teleport you to your home. Finally, you will see a question mark button. This is the help button. It will tell you what server you are on, how old your penguin is, and you will be able to mute the music if you want.

Now that we have covered all the tricky things, go explore. Ask other penguins where things are if you don’t know. Have fun and for more information on the game, check out my friend’s blog: Best Of Club Penguin!

HAVE FUN
